COMMON NAME: Albizia, Silk-tree, Mimosa
FAMILY: Leguminosae
GROWTH HABIT: Small tree about 35 ft., vase-shaped, often multiple stemmed, broad-spreading, forming a flat-topped crown.
FOLIAGE: Alternate, fternline twice-compound leaves, to 20 in. long, with 10 - 25 pinnae, each with 40 - 60 leaflets. Often does not leaf out until late May or early June.
BUDS: Few-scaled, small, blunt, not sunk in bark, sometimes occur one above the other; end buds false.
FLOWERS: Poder-puff-like, pink. June - Aug.
FRUIT: Beanlike pods, 2 - 3 in.
NATIVE HABITAT: Iran to central China
