FAMILY: Katsuratree Family; Cercidiphyllaceae
GROWTH HABIT: Up to 40 - 60 ft. tall. Dense, broadly oval, or upright oval.
FOLIAGE: Opposite or subopposite leaves, somewhat heart-shaped. Crenate margins.
BUDS: No terminal bud; two scales, reddish, 1/16 to 1/8 inches long.
BARK: Brown, slightly shaggy in old trunks.
FLOWERS: Dioecious. Flowers before leaves expand.
FRUIT: Green, upright follicle about 3/4 in. long.
NATIVE HABITAT: China, Japan
