COMMON NAME: Whitecedar Falsecypress; Atlantic Whitecedar
FAMILY: Cupressaceae
GROWTH HABIT: A slender column in youth, forming a narrow spire-like crown at maturity devoid of branches for 3/4's of its length.
FOLIAGE: Bluish green to green with white margins, 1/10 to 1/12 inches long, lateral pairs boat-shaped with sharp-pointed, spreading tips, facial pairs closely pressed. Leaves turn brown the second year but persist for several years.
BARK: Thin, ashy gray to reddish-brown
FRUIT: Cones. globose, small, 1/4 inch across, a bluish purple, bloomy; scales 4 to 5.
NATIVE HABITAT: Japan and Formosa.
