COMMON NAME: White Spruce

FAMILY: Pine Family; Pinaceae

GROWTH HABIT: Tree with an evenly conical crown.

FOLIAGE: Green or bluish-green, four-sided needles that are bluntly pointed, 2/3 - 3/4 in. long

FRUIT: Cones. Slenter, 1 1/2 - 3 in. long. Scales thin, flexible, with rounded margins.

NATIVE HABITAT: Most of Canada, northern U.S. in New England, Midwest, Plains States, and Alaska.
