Picea pungens
COMMON NAME: Colorado Spruce, Colorado Blue Spruce
FAMILY: Pine Family; Pinaceae
FOLIAGE: Evergreen. Gray to blue needles are four-sided, sharp-pointed, curved and very stiff, 1/2 - 1 1/4 in. long.
FRUIT: Cones. 2 - 4 1/2 in. long, pendulous, green when young then reddish-brown. Cone scales stiff with irregular tooth margins.
NATIVE HABITAT: Southwestern United States (Rocky Mountains)
