COMMON NAME: Douglas-Fir
FAMILY: Pine Family; Pinaceae
FOLIAGE: Evergreen, 3/4 - 2 in. long, flat, straight or slightly curved, vertically grooved above, with pale vertical bands below. Apex blunt or rounded.
BUDS: Red-brown, smooth, rather large, sharp-pointed.
FRUIT: Cones. Pendulous, 2 -4 in. long, with thin, 3-pronged bracts handing below the scales.
NATIVE HABITAT: British Columbia to California; south and east to Mexico and Colorado.
