Points of Significance
- Native trees, planted in 1988, are typical of the Eastern Seaboard. They include bald cypresses, loblolly pines, red maples, willow oaks, and American hornbeams.
- Large American beeches and pin oaks provide shade for students and food for resident squirrels. Additional trees next to the buildings include Southern and saucer magnolias.
- Large willow oaks, white pines, and a male osage orange shadow the library's patio.
- This cluster of exotic trees includes Japanese pagoda trees, weeping cherries, and "Reversii" European beeches.
- The large American elms, tulip poplars, and sycamores shade the understory trees, Allegheny serviceberries, dogwoods, and Franklinia trees.
